How do customers receive plants?Because we’re a backyard nursery and private home, we come to you! We deliver within 20 miles of 15005 for a $5 fee. We think plant delivery is a cool service but if the cost is prohibitive to your purchase, please message us and we’ll make it okay.
Otherwise, find as at local farmer’s markets beginning in May 2026.
What makes Green Forks different?There are some amazing native nurseries in Pittsburgh already. But ours focuses on plants that have traditionally been used medicinally. We grow them and then we create nourishing products with them.
We use all organic everything when growing (because we’re very ethical), and we’re working toward certification, but until then you’ll have to trust us.
Where do I learn more about medicinal plants? Are you certified herbalists?Everything you’d want to know about native Pennsylvania medicinals will soon be linked here. It will be behind a donation-based paywall because we’ve worked so, so hard to pull this info together and we know you’ll show appreciation with money.
There is, technically, no such thing as a certified herbalist. But we have been studying for years at the Chestnut School and building our home apothecary. Now we share!
Can Green Forks show up at my event? YES! Please email us with details. We love doing markets, learning workshops, nerdy birthday planting parties…whatever you want.
Why can't you absolutely guarantee plant quantities? And what about returns?We’re a relatively tiny operation. Everything is grown and produced in our home with so much love. But we’re still subjected to everything a major greenhouse is, so sometimes germination or transplant rates aren’t what we planned. It’s disappointing for all of us. Message us if you want to work it out over a cup of tea!
We promise to give you the healthiest plants we have. We can’t accept returns right now, but if you don’t love your new greens, we’ll gladly give you something else at no cost!
